WOMEN’S LANGUAGE

EDUCATION

Our Maasai famalies need Swahili and English literacy to preserve their basic human rights and natural environment. However, these national languages are only taught in schools, which are largely inaccessible to women traveling by foot.

Language education allows Maaasi women the ability to communicate with other Tanzanians and it enables them to help their children with schoolwork. Our language program provides local classes in small schoolhouses that are easily accessible for women. Currently we teach more than 100 Maasai adults.

A small donation of $30 provides books and soap for one woman student. A larger donation of $360 pays one teacher’s salary for one year. A major donation of $4,000 builds your own school in a community that currently has no access to education.
