"The human right to water is indispensable for leading a life in human dignity. It is a prerequisite for the realization of other human rights".
- United Nations General Comment No. 15. The right to water. UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, November 2002
The human right to water entitles everyone to sufficient, safe, acceptable, physically accessible, affordable water for personal and domestic use.
Today there are 780 million people in the world without access to safe water.
Nearly half of that population,
about 320 million people
(roughly the entire population of the USA),
live in Sub-Saharan Africa...
the only region in the world where
less than 50% of the population
have access to safe water.
